9-11 Remembrance Ceremonies for 2020




ATLANTIC COUNTY


Absecon

Friday, Sept. 11th, 6pm

Heritage Park

Absecon’s annual 9/11 Memorial Service will be this Friday, September 11th, at 6pm. All are welcome to join in remembrance at the Memorial in Heritage Park on Mill Road.



Atlantic City

10 am (Rain or Shine)

Jackson Ave./Boardwalk

A special remembrance ceremony will be held at 10am (rain or shine) at the Saracini - O'Neill Atlantic City 9-11 Memorial located at Jackson Ave. and the Boardwalk. For more information visit www.ac911memorial.com.


Hammonton

Light Display 9/11 - 9/13

Beginning on the evening of September 11 and continuing on September 12 & 13, Hammonton will host a town tribute with two beams of light that will shine as beacons of America's resilience. Additionally, the firehouse at 51 N. White Horse Pike in Hammonton will be illuminated in red, white, and blue LED lights as a continued commitment by our fire company to never forget September 11, 2001.


The public is invited to view the display on the evenings of Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, from approximately 9pm until midnight, although displays may be visible earlier. For the safety of all guests, vehicles are asked to not stop on the White Horse Pike/Rt.30 and instead proceed into the parking lot and follow posted signage.



CAPE MAY COUNTY


Ocean City

Friday, Sept. 11th 6pm

In front of 6th St. Fire House

Ocean City’s annual “A Day to Remember” 9/11 memorial ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, outdoors in front of the Ocean City Fire Department headquarters between Fifth Street and Sixth Street on Asbury Avenue. All are encouraged to attend and to wear face coverings at all times during the event. Chairs will be set up to maintain social distancing. The event will includes the Striking of the Four Fives, a fire service tradition noting the death of a firefighter in the line of duty.




North Wildwood Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:40 a.m. 15th & Central Avenues Hosted by the City of North Wildwood and North Wildwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5941. Social distancing and face mask protocol per state guidelines will be enforced to protect all those attending.

Upper Township Friday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. Sergeant William R.Godfrey Memorial Park at Osprey Point, 1731 Route 9, Seaville The service will be hosted by Osprey Point resident, James Joyce. Visitors and dignitaries will be acknowledged. All are welcome to attend this Patriot Day Service to remember and honor those who have fallen or suffered grievous harm on this day of disaster. If there is inclement weather, the service will be held inside the Osprey Point Clubhouse. All pandemic social distancing and mask protocols will be observed.


Wildwood Crest Friday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. Miami & New Jersey Avenues, adjacent to Sunset Lake Various community and religious leaders and local first responders are expected to attend the Patriot's Day ceremony, which will honor all of those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Those attending the ceremony must comply with proper social-distancing guidelines and are encouraged to wear masks. For more information, call (609) 522-5176.


Wildwood

Saturday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.

Byrne Plaza, located at Oak and Pacific Avenues

The City of Wildwood, in conjunction with the Wildwood Business Improvement District, will hold a solemn 9/11 memorial ceremony, including the "Ringing of the Bell" and "Presenting of Colors" on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. The event will take place at Byrne Plaza, located at Oak and Pacific Avenues in Downtown Wildwood. Cooper River Park

Remembering Our Fallen, a 7-day photographic war memorial exhibit honoring veterans from The War on Terror and their families for their service and sacrifice is on view NOW through Tuesday, September 15th on Veterans Island at Cooper River Park.

Masks must be worn and social distancing will be enforced.



GLOUCESTER COUNTY


Mantua

Friday, Sept. 11th 9am

Virtual Ceremony

Gloucester County's Patriots Day ceremony will be held virtually this year. The 2020 ceremony will be shown on the county's Facebook, YouTube and County website. The ceremony will also be viewable on their local channels on September 11, 2020 at 9 a.m. on Comcast Channel 97 or Verizon Channel 34.
