A 50/50 Weekend
Hello South Jersey! We made it to the weekend and Saturday is definitely looking like the better half as a storm system brings more clouds and rain, which could be heavy at times, for Sunday. We have a couple coastal concerns to keep in mind for the weekend as well. First, Tropical Storm Kyle continues to quickly push out to sea and will have no direct affects on the U.S. mainland. However the one thing the storm has done is churn up the surf, so we see a moderate risk for rip currents throughout the weekend, so use a little extra caution and always swim by a lifeguard if you are heading into the water. The second concern is the possibility of minor tidal flooding this weekend, especially at the times of evening high tides. High tide Saturday evening is at 5:23pm and Sunday evening high tide is at 6:14 pm. Persistent onshore winds will start to pile water up today and continue right into the day on Sunday. Right now it looks like widespread minor tidal flooding is most likely during the Sunday evening high tide, so if you live in a flood prone area make sure you move your car to higher ground. Have a great weekend everyone!!
