Could Mulan's VOD Release Change the Game for Future Films?
Anticipation for Disney's action film Mulan has been growing steadily over the last few months as the would-be blockbuster film was put on hold like so many other movies during the pandemic. Then news came that the $200 million dollar film (said to be the most expensive to date by a female director) would in fact be coming our in 2020, but not in the way many expected.
With most theaters still closed due to Covid-19, Disney Plus has opted for a Video On Demand release for $29.99 with a subscription required. As major movie houses play the waiting game to see if and when theaters will open in 2020, could Disney be the first of many to follow suit? Film Critic JD Duran gives us his take.
